
Grasshoppers Fall to the IronBirds, 16-1 on Saturday Evening

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Greensboro Grasshoppers fall 16-1 to the IronBirds on Saturday, July 8. The IronBirds improved to 9-5 on the second half of the season while the Grasshoppers fell to 3-11. Aberdeen outhit Greensboro 16-6 as both teams had two errors.
Leading at the plate for the Grasshoppers was outfielder Tres Gonzalez as he went 2-4 with one free base. Following close behind was infielder Maikol Escotto as he went 2-4 with one run scored. Mike Jarvis and Sammy Siani also recorded hits for the Grasshoppers.
Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Valentin Linarez as he tallied three strikeouts and gave up four hits, two runs, and one free base on two innings of work. Linarez took the loss for the Grasshoppers and fell to 0-5 on the season.
Daniel Lloyd recorded the win for the IronBirds and improved to 4-3 on the season.
The Grasshoppers finish up their home series against the IronBirds tomorrow, Sunday, July 9, at 2:00 PM. Come out to First National Bank Field for the Hoppers game and Family Funday Sunday.
