Greensboro, NC - In the rubber game of a three-game series, the Greensboro Grasshoppers used a pair of multi-run innings to defeat the Greenville Drive 4-3 on Friday night.

The Drive (12-15, 49-47) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when Nick Lovullo hit a leadoff double and scored on a single by Luis Alexander Basabe.

In the bottom half, the Grasshoppers (17-10, 55-42) punched back with two runs against Roniel Raudes (8-3) to take the lead on a Giovanny Alfonzo solo homer and a Kyle Barrett RBI double.

An RBI single in the fifth by Jeremy Rivera allowed the Drive to tie the game, but once again, Greensboro answered with two runs to retake the lead. Josh Naylor's sacrifice fly put the Grasshoppers up for good, and Angel Reyes singled home a crucial insurance run.

The Drive had a golden opportunity to get back in the game in the eighth. Basabe smacked a leadoff homer, his 10th of the year, to cut the Grasshoppers lead to one, and Mitchell Gunsolus followed with a double to put the tying run on. The Drive eventually got the go-ahead run on base as well, but a strikeout ended the threat.

Cody Poteet (3-7) got the win for the Grasshoppers, and Marcus Crescentini struck out the side in the ninth to earn his first save.

Basabe went 2-4 with a homer and two RBI, and Friday marked his second straight night with a home run. Gunsolus added a pair of hits as well.

The Drive's road trip continues on Saturday night as they begin a four-game series against the Asheville Tourists, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. First pitch on Saturday is at 6:05 PM.
