Granier Named Can Am League Pitcher of the Week

Ottawa, ON - For the first time in franchise history, the Ottawa Champions have had a player named Can Am League Pitcher of the Week.

Drew Granier was awarded the honour for the week of July 6-12 after throwing eight innings of one-hit, shutout ball in Ottawa's 1-0 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Friday, July 10th.

The 26-year-old from Thibodeaux, LA went 1-0 during the week, allowing no runs and one hit in eight innings while striking out four and walking three.

On the season Granier is 2-5 with a 5.44 ERA in nine starts with 34 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched.

Granier will make his next start on Wednesday in the third game of a six game, five day home series against the Quebec Capitales.

The Champions kick off the homestand with a doubleheader on Tuesday starting with the resumption of the games that was suspended on July 1st with Quebec leading 6-0 in the top of the third inning.

RHP Dan Tobik (0-2, 7.36 ERA) will pick up where he left off in the first game against LHP Sheldon McDonald (4-4, 3.69 ERA) who will also resume his start.

LHP Andrew Werner (5-4, 4.35 ERA) will start game two for Ottawa against Quebec RHP Karl Gelinas (6-2, 2.51 ERA).
