Granier Named Pitcher of the Week
July 13, 2015 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Ottawa Champions RHP Drew Granier (pictured) has been named this week's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 12.
Granier becomes the first Champion in franchise history to win a weekly award from the Can-Am League. He earns the award thanks to a strong start on Friday night at the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the American Association. Granier tossed eight shutout innings, earning a win while allowing only one hit and three walks while striking out four. Ottawa needed Granier to pitch as strong as he did, as the Champions edged the RedHawks 1-0.
On the season, Granier is now 2-5 with a 5.43 ERA on the season. In nine starts, he has struck out 34 over 48 innings.
This is his first season in the Can-Am League. Drafted out of Louisiana-Monroe, the Thibodaux, La. resident spent four seasons in the Oakland Athletics organization. He split 2014 between Class AA Midland and Class AAA Sacramento.
Ottawa, now finished with its American Association trip, opens a home series with the Quebec Capitales on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. That game, like all Can-Am League games, is available live and for free at www.canamleague.tv.
