Maloney Named Player of the Week for Third Time in 2015

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Rockland Boulders C Joe Maloney has been named this week's Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 12.

This is the third time Maloney has taken home the award. He previously won for the week ending May 24 and the week ending May 31. Additionally, he was the Can-Am League Player of the Month for June.

This week, the Aston, Pa. resident went 10-for-21 in seven games. He collected two doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI.

Maloney began his week on Tuesday with a doubleheader against the New Jersey Jackals. In game one, he was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI and a run scored as the Boulders won 7-2. After a hitless game in the nightcap, Maloney returned on Wednesday morning with a 3-for-5 game that included a double and two RBI, but the Boulders fell 6-5. Maloney was just 0-for-1 in Thursday's series finale, but rebounded in a big way over the weekend. Rockland went on the road to the Trois-Rivieres Aigles for a three-game series, and Maloney had hits in all three games. He was 1-for-4 on Friday with an RBI and a run scored in a 9-4 win, and had his biggest game of the week on Saturday. In a 9-1 win, Maloney was 3-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and a whopping six RBI. Maloney capped his week with a strange 1-for-1 night Sunday that included four walks and four runs scored in a 12-6 win.

On the season, Maloney is now batting .358 with 14 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 40 RBI.

Maloney is a second-year member of the Boulders. Last year, he hit .271 with 16 doubles and 17 home runs while driving in 66. He won the Player of the Week award for the week ending July 6, 2014, when he was 11-for-18 for the week.
