Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release
In his professional debut, Ryan Rolison allowed one run in two innings as the Grand Junction Rockies beat the Billings Mustangs 9-4 Tuesday night at Dehler Park.
The Rockies first round pick was handed a lead before he even took the mound after Grant Lavigne singled home a pair in the top of the first inning, and Niko Decolati scored a third run on a fielder's choice.
Rolison retired the side in order in the bottom of the inning, getting a called third strike on Reshard Munroe. He needed just 11 pitches in the frame, and the Rockies added to their lead in the second with three more runs, the first was doubled home by Will Golsan, who would later score on a balk, and then Decolati's RBI double made it a 6-0 game.
Pabel Manzanero started the bottom of the second with a home run off Rolison, but he retired the next three, striking out Jay Schuyler to end his night. In two innings the Manzanero homer was the only blemish on his line.
The Mustangs scored a run off Trent Fennell in the third, and Monroe homered off Jake Bird in the sixth, but the Rockies regained control of the game with a three run seventh inning to get the lead back to six.
After Rolison, Fennell allowed one run in two innings as did Bird, who earned his first win. Aneudy Duarte worked around a single in the seventh, while Colton Harlow tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning. Reagan Biechler gave up a run on one hit in the ninth.
Lavigne finished with two hits, extending his hitting streak to 10 games, and he now has 10 RBI.
Golsan also had a two hit night as the Rockies won for the third straight time for the first time all season and improve to 12-13.
