MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (13-12) and Ogden Raptors (16-9) play game two of a four game series Wednesday at Lindquist Field. First pitch is slated for 7:00 pm.
Ogden defeated Missoula 11-4 Tuesday in the series opener. Both teams were scoreless through two and a half innings until the Raptors offense exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third. Daniel Robinson led off the inning with a single while Jacob Amaya reached on an error. Drew Avens bounced into a fielder's choice to score the first run of the game. Dillon Paulsen hit a three-run home run and the Raptors tagged on two more runs to lead 6-0 after three.
Nick Dalesandro led off the fourth for the Osprey and reached on an error. He scored on an RBI groundout from Jesus Munoz to pull the Osprey within five. Buddy Kennedy smacked a solo homer in the fifth, his fourth of the season, to make it a four-run game.
However, Ogden got both runs back in the bottom of the inning when Jair Camargo launched a two-run homer to make it an 8-2 game. The Raptors added a run in the sixth when Ronny Brito recorded a double to score Matt Cogan and push the lead to 9-2. Missoula countered with two in the seventh, courtesy of a Dalesandro two-RBI double.
Ogden plated two more runs in the eighth as Miguel Vargas and Brito each drove in a run to give Ogden the 11-4 victory over Missoula.
Deyni Olivero (0-2) is pegged with the loss after two innings on the mound for the Osprey, allowing five runs (two earned). Connor Mitchell (2-0) earns the win after tossing two and a third innings of two-run baseball. Both runs were unearned. Missoula committed six errors while Ogden had four.
On the mound for the Osprey Wednesday is right-hander Edgar Martinez (3-0). The 20-year-old owns a 1.64 ERA on the season. In his last start at Great Falls, Martinez threw six innings of one run baseball in his first no decision of the season.
His opposition today for Ogden is Jose Chacin (2-3). The right-hander has posted a 3.92 ERA this season in five starts with the Raptors. In 25.1 innings this year, Chacin has 23 strikeouts compared to four walks. In his most recent start, Chacin tossed six innings, allowing two earned runs and five strikeouts.
