Great Falls Voyagers News Release

Great Falls, MT - The Voyagers bashed three home runs on their way to a 6-1 series-opening victory over Orem Tuesday night at Centene Stadium.

With the win, Great Falls (14-11) moved into sole possession of first place in the Pioneer League North. Both Helena and Missoula are one game back after losses Tuesday night. The Voyagers are now 10-3 at home this season. Orem (8-17) fell to 3-9 on the road. It was the first meeting between North and South teams.

The Voyagers scored all the runs they would need in the bottom of the 1st. Trailing 1-0, Ian Dawkins promptly tied the game with a leadoff solo home run high and deep to right-center. It was Dawkins' second dinger of the season. Ramon Beltre followed with a base hit lined into center. Logan Sowers gave Great Falls the lead with an RBI double off the base of the wall in left-center. With one out, Corey Zangari belted a drive high in the air to right-center that cleared the wall for a 4-1 lead. Zangari added a solo home run with one out in the 3rd. His fourth of the season left in a hurry on a line drive deep to left-center. Logan Sowers picked up an RBI single for the game's final run in the 6th.

It marked the second three-homer game of the season for Great Falls. The Voyagers clubbed three home runs in a home game against Helena back on June 30th as part of a doubleheader. It was the first multi-homer game for Corey Zangari since August 15th, 2016. That also came in a Great Falls uniform. It was Zangari's third career two-homer game.

With two hits and two RBIs, Logan Sowers extended his on-base streak to 23 consecutive games. Ian Dawkins also collected two hits with a walk. Ramon Beltre has now reached base in 12 straight games.

On the mound for Great Falls, Spencer Moran registered his third quality start of the season. Moran (2-1) lasted seven innings and allowed just one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Matt Leon took the loss for Orem. Leon (1-1) went two-and-two-thirds and gave up five earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Lane Ramsey finished the game for the Voyagers and retired all six batters he faced. Ramsey struck out three.

Great Falls continues its seven-game home stand with game two of four against Orem Wednesday night at Centene Stadium. First pitch is set for 7 o'clock. For 2018 ticketing and promotional information, call 406-452-5311 or visit www.gfvoyagers.com.
