Graham Johnson Goes the Distance in X's 15-1 Victory over Texas

Sioux City came out swinging, plating a quick run in the bottom half of the first to take the early lead. X's shortstop Nate Samson singled with two outs, and scored on an RBI double by Jarek Cunningham for the first run of the afternoon.

The Explorers offense exploded in the second inning, racking up nine huge runs to extend their lead to a whopping 10-0 score. The first run of the inning scored on a bases loaded walk. On the next at-bat Derrick Robinson cranked a grand slam home run to clear the bases. They scored two more runs on RBI doubles by Nate Samson and Ino Patron, and added a couple runs off sacrifice-fly's.

Texas record their one and only run in the fifth. AirHogs third baseman Cody Morales scored the runner at third with a sacrifice fly.

Sioux City went on to score their final five runs in the bottom if the eighth. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Jarek Cunningham (2 RBI) and Tommy Mendonca (1 RBI) knocked in three runs. X's right fielder Ino Patron singled to score a run, and Matt Koch's RBI-groundout plated the runner at third base.

Explorers right-hander Graham Johnson (5-2) went the distance Sunday afternoon, pitching a complete game with only one run scored, off five hits and a walk, while striking out three.

AirHogs starter Tyler Harris (2-1) was charged with the loss for Texas, giving up a whopping ten runs in only two innings pitched.

The Sioux City Explorers will enjoy an off day on Monday (July 18th) before embarking on a three game series with the Joplin Blasters (July 19-21st) at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.
