WICHITA, Kans. - Zack Cox hit for the cycle and the Wichita Wingnuts posted season-highs in runs (15) and hits (20) in 15-5 rout of the Sioux Falls Canaries Sunday afternoon at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

After an RBI single by Brent Dean got Wichita (36-19) on the board in the third, Cox picked up the first of his four hits, driving in a run with a double.

Jon Link (7-3) worked out of a bases loaded no out jam in the top of the fifth, fanning three straight Canaries (17-37) to escape unscathed. The veteran right tossed six shutout innings for the afternoon, yielding four hits and striking out eight, a new season-high.

Wichita then made Sioux Falls pay for missing their opportunity, plating three in the home half of the fifth. Christian Stringer singled in a run, and Cox followed with a two-run opposite field homer off of Kris Regas (3-4).

A four-run sixth boosted the lead to 9-0. Leo Vargas plated a run with a single, Cox drove in two more with a triple to give him a career-high tying five RBIs for the afternoon, and Brent Clevlen added a run-scoring double.

Leading 9-4 entering the bottom of the eighth, Cox came to the plate and led off with an opposite field single to complete his cycle, the first single for the Wingnuts since C.J. Ziegler did it in an 18-5 win at the Gary SouthShore RailCats on August 21, 2013.

The Wingnuts added six more to their total in that eighth inning on an RBI double by Matt Chavez, two-run triple by Martin Medina, RBI double by Dean, and a two-run double by Vargas.

Each Wingnut had at least one hit on the afternoon, and eight of the nine scored at least once.

The Wingnuts go for a sweep of their four-game series with the Canaries Monday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. Southpaw Todd Kibby (0-0, 1.80) will be on the hill for Wichita, while Sioux Falls will counter with right-hander Shawn Blackwell (5-4, 7.08). First pitch is set for 7:05, and the game can be heard on 1410 AM KGSO, as well as on TuneIn.
