Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
Moose Jaw fought for their chances Tuesday against Seattle but they were not able to convert and fell 5-2 to the Thunderbirds at ShoWare Center.
Moose Jaw had a good start to the game, as they created several clean rushes up the ice which led to quality shots on the Seattle net.
Three minutes into the game, Martin Lang broke up a Seattle clearing attempt inside the Thunderbirds zone.ÃÂ Lang then skated down the right boards with the puck and made a pass cross-ice to Eric Alarie just inside the left circle.
The Warriors leading rookie scorer settled the puck down and then snapped a quick shot past goalie Roddy Ross, his sixth of the season gave Moose Jaw an early 1-0 lead.
Throughout the rest of the period, Seattle had a territorial advantage and was able to generate 19 shots on net, which includes several from the blueline.ÃÂ However, the Warriors got big saves from Brock Gould and they did a good job taking away second opportunities to hold onto their one-goal lead.
Seattle came out hard in the second period and was able to tie the game 99 seconds into the period on a goal from Conner Roulette.
Moose Jaw responded at 7:46 when a Kyle Crosbie shot went off a Thunderbird and over the goal line, it was Crosbie's fourth goal of the year, which happens to come on his 19thÃÂ birthday.
Late in the period the Warriors had a power-play but were not able to convert, instead, when Seattle got back to even strength, they collapsed on the Moose Jaw net and Andrej Kukuca was able to swipe the puck in to tie the game at two.
Five and a half minutes into the third period, Kukuca blocked a shot for Seattle at their blueline.ÃÂ He then grabbed the puck in the neutral zone and broke down the Warriors boards and let a shot go from inside the right circle that gave the Thunderbirds their first lead.
Seattle's Max Patterson scored shorthanded at 11:09 to make it a two-goal game, and then the Thunderbirds scored an empty-net goal in the final three minutes to finish the game.
The Warriors will finish the U.S. Division portion of their road trip on Wednesday when they play the Everett Silvertips.
Catch all the action on Country 100 starting with the PreGame Show at 8:40pm.
This 12-day road trip wraps up Friday when they return to Canada and make a stop in Lethbridge for their final meeting of the season against the Hurricanes.
