Kamloops Blazers News Release
KAMLOOPS, BC - Blazer fever is high as Blazer Memorial Cup anniversary celebrations kick off this Friday. Doors open at 7pm for Gord Bamford #REDNEK Music Fest featuring Platinum-selling JUNO Award winner Jess Moskaluke, JoJo Mason, Eric Ethridge, Andrew Hyatt, Cory Marks, Duane Steele, and GhostBoy.
"It's an explosive party with non-stop music for over two and a half hours," says Canadian Country Music Star Gord Bamford. "Kamloops is the perfect place for us to kick this tour off, we're excited to bring the show to the great country music fans here!"
Starting the show at 7:20, an Up Close and Personal pre-show features Rob Brown, Shane Doan and others as they retell the highlights that made those glory days in Blazer history. A 50/50 will raise money for Kamloops KidSport and the Kelowna Child Advocacy Centre, a Gord Bamford Foundation charity.
70 Blazers alumni including players, coaches, trainers and managers are returning to the Tournament Capital of Canada.
Celebrations continue with a public meet and greet from 3-5 on Saturday February 22 at Sandman Centre.
Entrance is free and fans can take their photos with the Memorial Cup or get autographs from Blazer Alumni including
Jarome Iginla, Don Hay, Bob Brown, Shane Doan, Scott Niedermayer, Ken
Hitchcock, Tom Renney, Rob Brown, Greg Evtushevski and more. The Blazers store will be open and commemorative shirts are in stock.
It's a near sold out game against the Calgary Hitmen at 7pm, Saturday night. Special on-ice ceremonies honoring Canada's military and Blazer alumni and the national anthem sung by Gord Bamford will get the crowd pumped for Blazer action. "The Memorial Cup Anniversary is a reminder of the heart within our organization, the community and those that helped to get us where we are today," says Kamloops Blazers owner Tom Gaglardi.
There are a few tickets available to Friday night's Gord Bamford #REDNEK Music Fest and Saturday's game against the Hitmen. Tickets are at Ticketmaster.ca.
