Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, TX - Despite sending 44 shots on net and only scoring once, the Amarillo Gorillas dropped Saturday night's game 2-1 to the Arizona Sundogs.

Arizona jumped on the scoreboard first, as forward Jason Vissor tipped a Kyle Hood power-play shot past Gorillas netminder Tuomas Lohtander midway through the period. Amarillo sent quality scoring chances on goal including 12 shots, only to come away empty-handed. Arizona 1 Amarillo 0 after one period.

Amarillo continued to test Sundogs goaltender JF Perras, firing 15 shots on goal in the middle period alone. Despite the offensive opportunities, Arizona forward Kevin Gardner nabbed a Konrad Reeder pass at the near circle and drilled his shot past Lohtander with less than five minutes to play in the period. After two, Arizona 2 Amarillo 0.

With a two goal lead with less than five minutes to play, Amarillo converted on the power-play. Forward Stuart MacRae sent his cross-ice pass to the near side of the Arizona net, where forward Jason Beeman wacked his sixth goal of the season home. For the second straight night, Amarillo didn't convert with the goaltender pulled in the final minute, and fell 2-1.
