Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, TX 2/13/09 - On Valentine's Day Eve, the Amarillo Gorillas decided they would reach out to those toiling away in West Texas' tallest building.

So, forwards Gordon Bell and Joe Guenther dressed as Cupid, handing out roses and hugs to all the females in the building.

Employees of tenant companies were shocked, as Bell and Guenther stormed through cubicles and into offices, making sure everybody had a rose for Valentine's Day. Joe Bob McCart, the operator of the Chase Tower, orchestrated the surprise, watching as the two Gorillas players brought a smile to faces across all 31 stories.

"It's great that the players took time out of their game day routine to do this," said Gorillas Owner Randy Sanders. "Gordon and Joe are fan favorites here, and people delighted in seeing these guys up close and in costume."

The Gorillas will play Friday night at the Amarillo Civic Center, hosting the Arizona Sundogs. Tickets to the game are buy one, get one free when purchased through the Gorillas' box office (901 S. Buchanan in Amarillo). In addition, hot dogs in the Civic Center will be $1 all night long, and the first fans in attendance will receive leis as part of the "Luau in the Jungle" promotion.
