Gorillas Drop Third Straight

February 23, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Odessa, TX - The Amarillo Gorillas fell to the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night by a final score of 4-1 at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa. Amarillo fell to 2-7-1 against the Jackalopes this season, after beating them 9-5 the last time they were in this building. After winning five straight games earlier this month, the Gorillas have now dropped three in a row going 0-2-1 in their past three games.

Amarillo would go down 1-0 off of Dominic Leveille's 29th goal of the season at 11:42 of the first, after a defensive zone turnover led to Leveille being all alone in front of Dan McWhinney. He would redirect a pass from Alex Dunn into the back of the net, and the Jacks would carry a 1-0 lead into the second frame.

The Gorillas would strike first in the second, as Marcus Reszka tallied his fourth goal of the year to tie the game at one, but it would be short-lived as Nathan Ward and Brian Swiniarski would score in a span of 2:37 in the middle of the second to put Odessa on top 3-1. They would never look back as they went on to add one more from Sebastian Thinel at 13:16 of the third to seal the victory.

The Gorillas would go 0-5 on the power-play, while Odessa went 1-9. Dan McWhinney made 28 saves in the losing effort, while Alexandre Vincent got his sixth win of the year over Amarillo, turning aside 25 shots.

Amarillo will be back in action tomorrow night at home, taking on the Youngstown Steelhounds at the Amarillo Civic Center - game time is set for 6:05 PM. It is team poster night in the jungle, as the first 1,000 fans through the door will receive a free team poster.
