Brahmas silence Thunder

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Texas Brahmas were back on their game Saturday night as the outplayed, outshot and outscored the Wichita Thunder 6-2.

The Texas offense started things off when defenseman Kevin McLeod ripped a shot past Thunder goaltender Bill Zaniboni at the 3:30 mark from Brent MacSween and Grant Jacobsen. The goal would be a good omen for things to come as the Brahmas came into the game 5-0 when McLeod scored an even strength goal.

The Thunder answered back with two goals of their own in the first on Brahmas goaltender Brett Jaeger, but that was all he would allow for the evening.

As Wichita's scoring sizzled out, Brahmas' forward Scott Sheppard's offense heated up as he became a nightmare to the Thunder putting three goals in the back of the net, making it his second hat trick for the season.

The only thing as hot as Sheppard's goal scoring was the Brahmas powerplay as Texas went 4-11 with the man advantage.

Texas received goals from Anders Strome and Justin Kinnunen in the final period to put Wichita away 6-2. Strome's goal was his 30th of the season and Kinnunen's 9th.

The Brahmas will play Northeast foes, Youngstown SteelHounds, Tuesday at the NYTEX Sports Centre for a 7:05 PM start. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or log on to www.brahmas.com.
