HIDALGO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League look to win their fifth straight road game tonight as they play division rival Rio Grande Valley at the Dodge Arena. Game time is 7:35pm.

The Bucks, fresh off clinching their fifth straight Southeast Division crown last night, come into tonight with an eight point lead over Arizona for the number one seed in the Southern Conference playoffs. Including tonight the Bucks will play 11 games left, while the Sundogs will play 14 more contests.

Last night the Bucks came from behind scoring five goals in the third period to beat Corpus Christi 6-3. It marked the second time ever that the Bucks scored five third period goals, the first was in their first season, on January 29, 2003 when Laredo beat Corpus 7-1.

Alex Goupil continued to pay dividends for Laredo as he scored two third period goals, including the game winner, and also added an assist. James Hiebert netted two goals for the Bucks last night. Dustin Traylen stopped 21 of 24 Rayz shots in net.

With two assists last night Jeff Bes increased his CHL-leading point total to 86 (38-48=86), three points ahead of Arizona's Alex Leavitt (27-56=83). Bes is two points away from matching his second best total as a Buck (88 points, in 05-06).

The Killer Bees come into tonight barely clinging to life in the Southern Conference playoff race. Rio trails fifth place Amarillo by by 14 points with 15 games left in the regular season.

Rio comes into this game on a three-game losing streak, falling to 4-1 to Laredo last Saturday, and losing twice to Austin 5-1, and 5-3.

Last night in the Bees 5-1 loss to the Ice Bats, Austin scored four second period goals to over take Rio.

Rob Voltera leads Rio in scoring with 51 points (23-28=51), while all-star Travis Banga sits right behind with 50 (19-31=50).

Tonight marks the 10th meeting of the year between the Bucks and the Bees, with Laredo leading the series 8-1.

After tonight the Bucks will begin a season high five-game homestand on Wednesday February 27th when they host Corpus Christi on Reliant Energy night. The Bucks will hold a press conference on Monday, February 25th at 1pm at the main entrance of the Laredo Entertainment Center.

The Bucks invite all media and fans to attend this event. Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski will be in attendance to speak to the media and fans.
