
Gordon and Bitz Head to Chicago

The Vancouver Canucks have assigned right wing ANDREW GORDON and reassigned right wing BYRON BITZ to the Chicago Wolves.
GORDON was acquired on Monday in a National Hockey League trade deadline deal from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Sebastian Erixon. He has split this season between Anaheim and the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch. The 26-year-old forward posted 5 points (2G, 3A) in 37 NHL games with the Ducks and 8 points (3G, 5A) in 19 AHL outings with Syracuse.
The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native spent the 2010-11 campaign with the AHL's Hershey Bears where he ranked third on the team with 28 goals and fourth with 57 points in 50 games. He also skated in nine NHL tilts with the Washington Capitals, recording 2 points (G, A).
Overall, the two-time AHL All-Star has amassed 105 goals, 127 assists and 232 points in 286 career AHL games with Hershey and Syracuse spanning five seasons (2007-present). GORDON also collected 22 goals and 36 points in 46 postseason matchups with the Bears and was a member of Hershey's 2009 and 2010 Calder Cup Championship clubs.
The Washington Capitals 11th selection, 197th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry draft has accrued seven points (3G, 4A) in 49 career NHL contests with Washington and Anaheim spanning four seasons (2008-present).
BITZ tallied 3 assists, 4 points and 14 penalty minutes in eight games with Vancouver after being recalled on Feb. 3.
The 27-year-old forward also has posted 3 points (G, 2A) and nine penalty minutes in 10 games with the Wolves this season in his first game action since March 27, 2010. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native missed the entire 2010-11 campaign due to injuries.
