St. Lucie Mets News Release

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Harol Gonzalez was brilliant on the mound for St. Lucie but the Mets fell to the Jupiter Hammerheads 1-0 on Tuesday at First Data Field.

For the second time this season, Gonzalez pitched a complete game in which his team lost 1-0. The other contest was on June 9 at Lakeland.

On Tuesday, Gonzalez surrendered his lone run in the first inning. He allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out seven. He threw 102 pitches.

Gonzalez had stretches where he retired eight batters in a row and seven batters in a row twice.

Jupiter's Anfernee Seymour started the game with a double. Two batters later Cameron Baranek singled into right field to plate Seymour for the only run.

Jupiter starter Jordan Yamamoto tossed seven scoreless innings with two strikeouts to earn the win.

Chad Smith pitched a perfect eighth and Marcus Crescentini worked a perfect ninth for his first save.

Wuilmer Becerra went 3 for 3 with three singles and a stolen base. The only other hit for the Mets came from Dash Winningham.

Becerra reached second base with one out in the seventh but a ground out and fly out left him stranded in scoring position.

The Mets lost by a 1-0 score for the fifth time this season. Gonzalez lowered his ERA to 2.81, which is second best in the Florida State League. However, his record dropped to 0-6.

The Mets lost their seventh game in a row.

The Mets (0-4, 27-44) and Hammerheads (2-3, 43-41) play the middle game of their series at First Data Field on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
