Goldeyes Add Pitcher Frederick

Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the baseball club has signed right-handed pitcher Emary Frederick.

Frederick, 26, joins Winnipeg after playing the first half of this season in the New York Mets system with at the Single-A and Double-A levels. With the Double-A Binghamton Mets of the Eastern League, he was 1-1 with a 4.71 ERA in 18 games. He also had three saves and a 2.35 ERA with the High-A St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League in 17 appearances.

This is Fredrick's second stop in the Northern League this season. He was previously with the Rockford RiverHawks, where he had one save and a 9.00 ERA in seven games.

Frederick spent four seasons in the Mets system at the Single-A and Double-A levels and compiled a 7-12 record with a 4.70 ERA.

In a separate move, Winnipeg has claimed pitcher Kevin Light off waivers from the Kansas City T-Bones and placed him on the inactive list. Light has returned to school and will not be available to the Goldeyes this season.

The Goldeyes now have 22 players on their active roster, including 12 pitchers and 10 position players.

Winnipeg continues a three-game series against the Rockford RiverHawks at Canwest Park tonight with the second game of the series. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and there will be fireworks following the game! Great seats are available by visiting any Ticketmaster location or by calling 780-3333.
