Goaltender Matt Dalton Assigned to Reading

Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Adam Courchaine ["CORE shane"] has been recalled from the Royals by the Boston Bruins. In a separate transaction, the Bruins assigned goaltender Matt Dalton from the Providence Bruins of the AHL to the Royals.
In his one regular season appearance with the Royals, Courchaine allowed four goals on nine shots in 7:13 of game time in Sunday's 6-4 loss for the Royals to the Trenton Devils. Dalton (6'1/196) (24), who hails from Clinton, Ontario, is well familiar in Reading. Last year, he had a record setting season for the Royals as he led the team to longest playoff run in the organization's history. Dalton, who was selected as the team's Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player, won as many games as any goaltender in Royals history in a single season (32) (22 in regular season; 10 in playoffs), and he played more minutes (2735 regular season 3rd in league; 955 playoffs 2nd) and made more stops (1524 regular season 2nd; 510 playoffs 1st) than any goaltender in the team's nine years. Dalton also put together the longest win streak ever for a Reading goaltender, when he won eight consecutive playoff games (04/12 - 05/04/10); and his thirteen game unbeaten streak (11-0-2), which stretched from the end of the regular season through the playoffs, is also a team record. Dalton established another high water mark for Reading goaltenders when he played in twenty-one consecutive regular season games for the team (12/29/09 - 02/20/10). Prior to turning pro, Dalton played two seasons at Bemidji State University Beavers. In 2008-09, he led BSU to the school's first ever NCAA Frozen Four appearance. In doing so, the sixteenth seeded Beavers became the lowest seeded team in NCAA tournament history to reach the Frozen Four. This season, Dalton appeared in one regular season game for the P-Bruins, stopping twelve of the sixteen shots he faced in forty-minutes of action in Providence's opening night 5-1 loss to the Springfield Falcons.
The Royals host the team's tenth anniversary home opener on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (7:05 pm), when the Elmira Jackals visit the Sovereign Center. Also, be sure to catch all of the team's away games this year on Royals TV exclusively on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
