Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira Jackals forward Michael Dubuc has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 15-17. Dubuc, who received this honor twice in 2008-2009, is the sixth Jackal to garner the player of the week accolade since the team joined the ECHL before the 2007-2008 season.

Dubuc leads the ECHL with five goals and six points after a four-goal output in Elmira's Saturday 5-4 overtime loss to Cincinnati. The Granby, Quebec native became the second Jackal in ECHL play to record four goals in a game, joining Justin Donati. Dubuc has now scored four goals in a contest three times in his career, with his two other weekly honors also coming when he accomplished that feat. The third-year pro has four career hat tricks.

In the Jackals' season-opening 7-3 win over the Cyclones, Dubuc notched a goal and an assist.

During his rookie season of 2008-2009, Dubuc led the South Carolina Stingrays with 35 goals during the team's Kelly Cup championship season. He spent the first two seasons of his career with the Stingrays and their AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears.

On behalf of Michael Dubuc, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award, in 2000-2001, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 23,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
