Goaltender Billy Sauer Returns to Stingrays

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, announced today that goaltender Billy Sauer has been returned to the team from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Sauer, 24, appeared in seven games with the Stingrays this season going 3-2-2 with a 2.74 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. The Rochester, New York, native did not appear in a contest with the Bears. Sauer has also spent time with the Greenville Road Warriors, Florida Everblades and Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL this season.

A seventh-round draft pick by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Sauer dressed in 15 games with the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL) during the 2009-10 season earning a 5-7-1 record, a 3.09 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.

The Stingrays kickoff a five-game road trip on Wednesday, March 21 against the Florida Everblades at 7:30 p.m. at Germain Arena and return to the North Charleston Coliseum for Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night on Saturday, March 31 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. Cast your vote for this season's Stingrays Hall of Fame inductee at StingraysHockey.com !
