Peoria, IL (October 25, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu has been reassigned to the team's ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces - 2006 ECHL Kelly Cup Champions.
Beckford-Tseu, 22, opened the 2006-07 Rivermen season with a 23-save performance in the team's 4-3 overtime home win over the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights; it was his only appearance to this point in the season. Last season, the 6-foot-2, 201-pound native of Toronto, Ontario, played in 16 games with the Rivermen, recording a 6-5-1 record, a 3.01 goals against average (GAA) and a .888 save percentage. The third-year professional earned a win in his first career AHL start with 24 saves against Hamilton on December 31, 2005.
Beckford-Tseu was a member of the Aces' 2006 ECHL Kelly Cup Championship, ranking first among ECHL playoff goaltenders in shutouts (3) and second in wins (T-8), goals against average (2.04), minutes played (795), saves (360), save percentage (.930). Last season, he became the first goaltender in ECHL history to capture Goaltender of the Week honors four times in a season; he also captured ECHL Goaltender of the Month honors for October after posting a 3-0-0 record with one shutout, a 1.33 goals against average and a .949 save percentage. In addition, he was voted as the starting goaltender for the National Conference in the ECHL All-Star Game, but was unable to play in the game as he was on call up to the NHL's St. Louis Blues.
The Rivermen continue their season-long, six-game road trip against the San Antonio Rampage on Thursday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. CDT at the AT&T Center.
Rivermen season ticket plans are on sale now with 1) the 25th Anniversary package (25 games), 2) a 12-game package, 3) a seven-game package and 4) undated voucher books (denominations of 20 vouchers). Packages start at just $75 per seat.
