
Coyotes Recall MacLean and Jones

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have recalled center Donald MacLean and defenseman Matt Jones from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Barnett also announced that the Coyotes have placed goaltender Mike Morrison on waivers.
MacLean, 29, has recorded 4-2-6 and 8 penalty minutes (PIM) in 9 games with San Antonio this season to lead the team in goal scoring. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound native of Sydney, Nova Scotia was honored as the AHL MVP last season after posting 56-32-88 and 63 PIM in 76 games with Grand Rapids. His 56 goals were tied for most in the league. In 32 career NHL games with Los Angeles, Toronto, Columbus, and Detroit, MacLean has registered 7-4-11 and 6 PIM.
The Coyotes signed MacLean as a free agent on July 17, 2006. He was chosen by Los Angeles in the 2nd round (33rd overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
Jones, 23, has registered 1 assist and 11 PIM in nine games with San Antonio this season. The 6-foot, 215-pound defenseman played 16 games with the Coyotes in his first professional campaign last season, recording 2 assists and 14 PIM. Jones, a native of Downers Grove, Illinois, was named to the PlanetUSA Team for the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic, but was unable to participate due to an injury.
The Coyotes selected Jones in the 3rd round (80th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Morrison, 27, has collected a record of 0-3-0, 6.14 GAA, and .790 SV% in 4 appearances with the Coyotes this season.
