Elmira Jackals News Release

Glenn Stewart has been named the United Hockey League's Sher-Wood Player of the Month for February 2003.

Stewart collected 23 points on 14 goals and nine assists in 13 games. He also cleared a +11 rating alongside three power play goals and one game-winning goal. During the month the big left winger had separate four and eight game scoring streaks. He managed two or more points in 10 of his 13 games during the month, and scored two goals in a game five times.

The Scarborough, Ontario native becomes the second Jackal to receive a monthly honor this year. Marco Emond was named Goaltender of the Month for January 2003. He is also the first Jackal to win Player of the Month Honors since David Lessard did it back in October of 2001 for the Jackals.

The Jackals finish a five game home stand against Fort Wayne on Thursday and Adirondack Friday. Both games are slated for 7 pm. Then Elmira starts their first of four straight on the road with a 7:30 pm tilt in Glens Falls against the IceHawks. All games will be carried live on your Home for Jackals Hockey, WiNGZ 104.9, with pre-game show starting one half-hour before puck drop.
