Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - After leading for most of the game and seeing a lead disappear in the ninth, the Winston-Salem Dash walked off the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 3-2, Wednesday night at Truist Stadium in front of 3,011 fans.

Winston-Salem (46-48) was treated to a tremendous start from left hander Tyler Schweitzer, who allowed only one run across six innings and punched out nine setting the tone from the jump. The lefty had six strikeouts across the first four innings, and the Dash bats rewarded him in the bottom of the fourth.

Centerfielder Jacob Burke blasted a leadoff homer to left center off Bowling Green (49-44) starter Duncan Davitt giving the Dash the 1-0 lead. The Hot Rods responded with a homer of their own in the fifth tying the game at one.

In the fifth, Andy Atwood pushed Winston-Salem back in front on a sacrifice fly, and the Dash held the 2-1 lead until the ninth.

Bowling Green got a one out single putting the tying run on base, and after a walk, Dru Baker pushed a single through the right side of the infield plating a run and tying the game at two.

Now tied, the Winston-Salem offense had a chance to end the game immediately. With one out in the bottom of the ninth, DJ Gladney called game.

Down in the count 0-2, the Chicago native got a high fastball and blasted a walk off homer over the wall in straightaway center sending Truist Stadium into a frenzy and picking up the game two win, 3-2.

Gladney's homer was his 13th on the year and a no doubter, traveling 462 feet off the barrel.

The Dash used four pitchers in the game, combining to allow only four hits, just one shy of a season low allowed.

Winston-Salem and Bowling Green meet again for game three on Thursday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. from Truist Stadium.
