Gladiators Release 2015-2016 Home Game Schedule
April 23, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
DULUTH, Ga. - The Gladiators revealed the team's 2015-2016 home game schedule on Thursday, with the home opener set for Friday, October 23rd, at 7:35 p.m. against the Florida Everblades. The Gladiators will again face their division rival at The Arena at Gwinnett Center the following night at 7:05 p.m.
The Gladiators will host 12 different teams over the course of their 36 home games from late-October through mid-April, some of which includes a first look at four new additions to the ECHL. The Adirondack Thunder (NY), Manchester Monarchs (NH), and the Norfolk Admirals (VA) all begin ECHL play during the 15-16 season, and will face the Gladiators in November and December. The Brampton Beast (ONT) joined the league at the start of the 14-15 season, but have not yet made a trip to Gwinnett. The Gladiators will host the Beast on Saturday, February 6th, 2016.
Also visiting Gwinnett will be six teams very familiar to Gladiators fans. Division foes Greenville, South Carolina, Florida, and Orlando have multiple stints at The Arena at Gwinnett Center, as well as Cincinnati and Evansville. Both the Alaska Aces and the Idaho Steelheads of the Western Conference will come to Gwinnett for three games each during the month of January.
"We are thrilled with the diversity of the home schedule this season," said Joe Gelderman, Gladiators General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations. "Welcoming six teams into our building that most of our fans have never seen before is huge for us, and we cannot wait to get things going on October 23rd."
24 of the team's 36 home games will fall on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, with five additional "holiday" games occurring when local children are out of school.
Fan favorite dates returning for the 15-16 season include the Gladiators annual Thanksgiving game (11/26 vs. Manchester), and the MLK Jr. Holiday "Kids Day Out" game (1/18 vs. Greenville @ 12:35 PM). Games occurring on Tuesday through Thursday, as well as Saturday, will continue to start at 7:05. Friday home games have a 7:35 p.m. start time, and Sundays will remain at 2:05 p.m.
