DULUTH, Ga. - The Gladiators (1-2-0-0) will play their first weeknight game of the season as they host the division-leading Orlando Solar Bears (3-1-1-0) tonight at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Orlando is tied with the Florida Everblades atop the East Division - both have seven points on the year, but the Everblades have the slight advantage with a shootout loss compared to Orlando's overtime loss. The Solar Bears took the edge in last season's series against the Gladiators, winning seven of 12.

Glads Notes:

There's No Place Like Home Ice: The Gladiators have won five of their last seven at The Arena at Gwinnett Center, and eight of their last 11, dating back to February 25th. The team has also outscored opponents 13-5 over the last 180 minutes at home.

Stone Cold Googs: Mark Guggenberger picked up career shutout number ten last Friday. It was also his second straight shutout at The Arena at Gwinnett Center, with the last coming in the team's season finale against Elmira on 4/12 (7-0 win).

Gladiators Ahoy: Four players currently on the Gladiators roster have been assigned from their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates- Jordon Southorn, Bretton Stamler, Nathan Burns, and Dyson Stevenson - and two more - Joel Hanley and Dan O'Donoghue - were assigned to Gwinnett and have since been recalled to Portland.

Return of the Mack: Alpharetta native Will MacDonald returns to the Gladiators roster after being released shortly before the beginning of the season. In 13 games for Gwinnett last year, MacDonald scored three goals and six assists. With MacDonald's return, the team now has three "Mac-/Mc-" surnames; Will MacDonald, Patrick MacGregor, and James McEwan.

New Faces...: Nine players return to Gwinnett from last season, and a tenth (Tristin Llewellyn) played for the Gladiators two seasons ago. Alternate Captain Casey Pierro-Zabotel is the most experienced in a Gladiators uniform, with 105 Gwinnett contests to his name.

...New Places: The ECHL expanded to 28 teams as of three weeks ago. Joining the league are teams in Allen, TX; Brampton, ONT; Independence, MO; Moline, IL; Rapid City, SD; Tulsa, OK; and Wichita, KS. Also of note, the Gladiators' NHL affiliate has changed their name beginning this season, to the Arizona Coyotes.
