ESTERO, FL - Alexandre Imbeault and Mitch Fadden beat Gladiators goalie Chris Carrozzi in a shootout to lift the Florida Everblades to a 3-2 win in the 2010-2011 season opener for both teams.

The Gladiators trailed entering the third period 2-1 but were able to draw even thanks to an Andy Brandt tally on a two-man advantage. Brandt took the puck from the far side of the net and jammed it by Florida goalie Bobby Goepfert on the second try.

Goepfert had his revenge in the shootout though, stuffing four Gladiators including Brandt to cap a strong 32 save performance.

Rookie Aaron Bendickson put Gwinnett on the board early in the first period, just 1:15 in, as he rifled home a rebound to make it a 1-0 game. Bendickson finished the night with a goal and an assist in his first game as a pro.

Florida came back to tie at the 6:15 mark, as Mitch Fadden was tied up on a breakaway but managed to slide the puck between Carrozzi's pads to even the score at 1-1.

Cedric McNicoll put the Blades ahead 12:59 into the second with a powerplay goal, snapping a shot over Carrozzi's blocker side for the only tally in the second.

Carrozzi stopped 27 of 29 shots in his pro debut. The last two goals came on the powerplay, as Gwinnett went 1-for-4 and Florida 1-for-6 on the man advantage.

Both teams warp up the series Saturday night at 7:00 pm. The Gladiators will then head back to Georgia for their home opener Friday, October 22nd at 7:35 pm.
