
Aces Announce Season Opening Roster, Late Move

Anchorage, AK; October 15, 2010 - A last-minute move made Friday morning has finalized the Alaska Aces 2010-2011 season opening roster, Head Coach Brent Thompson has announced. ECHL All-Star forward, Maxime Tanguay has joined the Aces, and is on the active roster heading into this weekend's season opening series. In conjunction with the move, the Aces waived rookie forward Devin Timberlake. The Aces open the 2010-2011 regular season on Friday and Saturday night when they host former goaltender J.P. Lamoureux and the Utah Grizzlies. On Friday, fans in attendance will receive free GCI magnetic schedules, and on Saturday Fred Meyer Autograph Books will be given out to fans at the game. The 24-man roster includes 20 active players, three on injured reserve, and one on the team suspension list. Defenseman Russ Sinkerwich is beginning the year on the 3-day IR, goaltender Travis Yonkman is starting the season on the 7-day IR, and forward Brandon Vossberg is opening the campaign on the 21-day IR. Additionally, defenseman, Steve Ward will open the season on the team suspension list, after his rights were acquired earlier this week. Tanguay was originally placed on the team suspension list, however arrived just before the start of the season to join the club for opening night. Ward is eligible to report to Alaska at any time and immediately come off the suspension list. Of the 20 active players, 11 are forwards, 7 are defenseman, and 2 are goaltenders. 10 of the 20 players are considered rookies, having played fewer than 25 professional games at the start of this season.
The active Aces forwards are: T.J. Battani, Scott Burt, Ethan Cox, Kory Falite, Wes Goldie, Chris Langkow, Pierce Norton, Garry Nunn, Jerad Stewart, Brian Swanson, and Maxime Tanguay.
The defensemen are: Chad Anderson, Daryl Boyle, Alex Dzielski, Craig Gaudet, Brandon Gentile, Mark Isherwood, and Bryan Miller.
The goaltenders are Gerald Coleman and Alex Petizian.
Scott Burt has been named the Aces team captain for the third straight season. The alternate captains for home games will be Wes Goldie and Brian Swanson, and for road games they will be Chad Anderson, and Bryan Miller.
