Mikhail Stefanovich and Josh Engel Assigned to Reading Royals

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Toronto Marlies of the AHL have assigned forward Mikhail Stefanovich ["mih KAIL stef AHN oh vitch"] and defenseman Josh Engel ["EHN gell"] to the Royals. The Royals also announced today that forward Ryan Cruthers has been selected as the team's captain with forwards Olivier Labelle and Andrew Sarauer named as alternate captains.

Stefanovich (6'2/207) (20), who hails from Minsk, Belarus, scored twenty-five goals, assisted on forty-three others (sixty-eight points) and picked up twenty-four penalty minutes in fifty-three games for the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season. A fourth round pick of the Maple Leafs in 2008, Stefanovich led the Remparts in goals (49) and points (76) in the 2008-09 season. Stefanovich, who has played for the junior national and World Championship teams for Belarus, registered 210 points (106g-104a) in 171 games in the QMJHL.

Engel (6'3/214) (26), who hails from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, scored four goals, assisted on thirteen others (seventeen points) and picked up eighteen penalty minutes in seventy games for the Toronto Marlies last year. Engel, who is entering his third full season of pro, registered fourteen points (2g-12a) in thirty-six ECHL games for the Gwinnett Gladiators in 2008-09. Engel, who played his college hockey for the University of Wisconsin, was selected for the Jim Santulli Seventh Man Award after his senior season with the Badgers. Engel was a member of the Wisconsin squad that won the NCAA National Championship in 2006.

The Royals host the team's tenth anniversary home opener on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (7:05 pm), when the Elmira Jackals visit the Sovereign Center.
