IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals and the defending Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones open their 2010-2011 seasons at First Arena in Elmira, N.Y at 7:35 p.m. in the debuts of new Jackals coach Malcolm Cameron and new Cyclones coach Jarrod Skalde. The Fifth Annual Block Party gets underway at 5:00 p.m. on Main Street outside of First Arena, with player introductions headlining the event.
THREE FOR THREE
Elmira is 3-0 in season-opening games in the ECHL, with all three wins coming at First Arena. On Oct. 16, 2009, the Jackals kicked off their campaign with a 5-2 win over the Cyclones. Elmira's 2008-2009 season began with a 5-2 victory over the Reading Royals on Oct. 17, 2008, while the Jackals defeated the Wheeling Nailers, 4-2, on Oct. 19, 2007 in their first ever ECHL game.
YOUTHFUL BUNCH
The average age of Elmira's opening-night roster is approximately 23 years. Only one player, Yannick Tifu, has veteran status, having played in over 300 professional games entering this season.
