Gladiators Add Two

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that rookie Guillaume Desbiens has been re-assigned to the team from the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. In a separate transaction, the Gladiators acquired Brian Teixeira from the Charlotte Checkers for financial considerations. In addition, Danny Eberly has been placed on the 7-day IR.

Desbiens returns to the Gladiators after appearing in two AHL games with the Wolves after being called up on February 9th. Desbiens recorded 7 penalty minutes while with the Wolves while on recall.

The Alma, PQ native was named the ECHL Player of the Week for December 5th through 11th. He leads Gladiators rookies in goals scored as he has posted 22 goals this season.

Desbiens was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 4th round, #116 overall in the 2003 NHL draft. He represented the Gladiators in the 2006 ECHL All Star game as a member of the American Conference Squad.

Teixeria comes to the Gladiators from the Charlotte Checkers where he has recorded one goal and 3 assists for 4 points in 23 games this season for the Checkers.

The Fallmouth, Massachusetts native played four seasons at Williams College where he posted 54 points in 95 career collegiate games before beginning his rookie season this year.

Danny Eberly, who returned to the Gladiators from the Norfolk Admirals on February 16th, has been placed on the 7-day IR.

Desbiens and Teixeria should be available for the Gladiators for Friday's 7:30 p.m. tilt against the Florida Everblades.

The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 ECHL season on the road as they travel to Florida to take on the Everblades on Friday, February 24th at 7:30 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties.
