Gissell, Sanchez No-Hit Sounds

Chris Gissell and Jesus Sanchez combined to throw the first no-hitter in Sky Sox franchise history as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the Nashville Sounds 3-0 on Saturday evening. Gissell went 7 innings on 87 pitches striking out 6 and allowing only 3 base runners when he walked 1 hitter and hit another 2. Sanchez came in for the final 2 innings retiring all 6 batters he faced on 21 pitches striking out 3. Sounds second baseman Dave Doster came to bat with 2 outs in the 9th inning and struck out swinging on a 0-2 count against Sanchez to close the game and the no-hit gem. Kit Pellow led the offense on this historic night with his 2 hits and driving in 2 of the Sox 3 runs on the evening as well as being the signal caller for both Gissell and Sanchez behind the plate. Game 2 of the series in Nashville takes place Sunday evening when Jason Young (6-5, 3.48) takes the hill for the Sox against Ryan Vogelsong (10-7, 4.56) of Nashville.
