Alfaro Provides the Offense in 3-2 Zephyrs Victory

Metairie, LA—Jason Alfaro was two for three with a home run to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs to a 3 to 2 victory over the Las Vegas 51's on Sunday Night at Zephyr Field in front of 4,813.

Henri Stanley led off the bottom of the first for the Zephyrs with a triple off 51's starter Andrew Lorraine. After Tripp Cromer grounded out to first, Stanley scored on a fly out by Jason Lane. Jason Alfaro followed with his seventh home run of the season to make the score 2 to 0.

The 51's answered with a run in the second as Rick Bell singled with one out and advanced to third on a single by Eric Riggs. Bell scored on a single from Ryan Kellner to make the score 2 to 1. The Z's would add an insurance run in the eighth as Tripp Cromer doubled with one out and scored on a double from Lane.

Zephyrs starter Bob Scanlan (1-5) picked up his first win of the season tossing five innings allowing one run on five hits. Kirk Bullinger picked up his 17th save of the season despite allowing a run in the ninth. Lorraine (7-8) suffered the loss pitching six innings allowing two runs on six hits.

The series with the 51's continues on Monday at 7:05 PM with Salute to NASCAR with a special appearance by Michael Waltrip and Monday is Military Monday. Show your military I.D. and receive 50% percent off regular adult admission ticket price. Doug Sessions (6-3, 2.61) is scheduled to start for the Zephyrs and Masao Kida (2-3, 4.88) for the 51's.
