Kitchener Rangers News Release
Eric Ming scored the lone goal in the Kitchener Rangers' 1-0 victory over the London Knights on Sunday. John Gibson received first star honours after making 36 saves in his first shut out of the season.
The teams skated through a scoreless first period, with Rangers netminder John Gibson stopping 14 shots and Michael Houser making nine saves for the Knights.
The Rangers would break the deadlock after 38 minutes of hockey. Josh Sterk followed the play behind the net and dug the puck out with a backhand pass to Eric Ming. The sophomore winger wired a quick shot past Houser, snapping an eight game goal-less drought. Veteran defenseman Cody Sol also assisted on Ming's 10th of the season.
Kitchener out-shot the Knights 20-10 in the middle frame.
Gibson made 12 saves in the third period to preserve the win and stopped a total of 36 pucks in his first career OHL shutout. The Rangers fired eight shots on the Knights net in the final period and 37 overall.
The Rangers win the season series with the nights 4-2 and improve to 41-22-1-1 this season. The Knights hold the league's best record at 47-17-0-1.
