GIANTS CLIMB PAST T-BIRDS IN OVERTIME

LANGLEY, BC, - Tyler Benson scored at 3:33 of overtime Tuesday night at the Langley Events Centre to give his Vancouver Giants a 4-3 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds.
The T-Birds travel to Kamloops to face the Blazers on Wednesday at 7pm. They are then in Kennewick to face the Tri-City Americans on Friday at 7:05pm. The T-Birds return home to accesso ShoWare Center on Saturday to play the Blazers at 6pm.
Seattle (11-11-2-1) took a 1-0 lead 1:42 into the first period. Jarret Tyszka kept the puck in the offensive zone at the left point. Tyszka found Zack Andrusiak all alone in front of Vancouver goalie Todd Scott. Andrusiak faked to his forehand, brought the puck to his backhand and slid it under Scott for his 12th goal of the season. Noah Philp had the second assist.
Vancouver (11-12-2-2) tied the game 1-1 at 10:52 of the first on a goal from Aidan Barfoot. Cyle McNabb had the only assist.
The T-Birds outshot the Giants 15-8 in the first period.
Jarret Tyszka put the T-Birds in front 2-1 at 8:33 of the second period. Matthew Wedman worked the puck down the right boards to Nolan Volcan behind the net. Volcan centered the puck to Sami Moilanen in the slot. The puck came off Moilanen's stick to Tyszka to the left of the Vancouver net. Tyszka lifted a backhand shot over Scott's glove for his third goal of the season.
Seattle had a 23-15 advantage in shots after two periods by outshooting Vancouver 8-7 in the second period.
Vancouver tied the game 2-2 at 5:24 of the third period on a power-play goal from Milos Roman. Brad Morrison and Dylan Plouffe had the assists.
Philp put the T-Birds in front 3-2 at 8:34 of the third. Philp took control of a loose puck in the neutral zone and headed toward the Vancouver net. At the top of the slot Philp beat Scott with a wrist shot for his fifth goal of the season.
Vancouver tied the game 3-3 at 18:34 of the third on a six-on-four power-play goal from Ty Ronning. Ronning scored in close with Scott on the bench for an extra attacker. Benson and James Malm had the assists.
 Seattle outshot Vancouver 39-26 in the game.
Seattle goalie Matt Berlin had 22 save and his record is now 7-6-1-1.
Scott had 36 saves and his record is now 5-6-2-1.
