Giants Acquire Veteran Forward Zimmer from Hurricanes

Forward Tyson Zimmer with the Lethbridge Hurricanes

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants announced today the acquisition of 2004-born forward Tyson Zimmer (Russell, Man.) from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for 2004-born forward Colton Langkow (Scottsdale, AZ), a second-round draft pick in 2024, a third-round draft pick in 2025 and unsigned 2008-born prospect Kai Anderson.
Zimmer, 19, is currently fifth amongst Lethbridge forwards in scoring this season with 23 points (12G-11A) in 37 games. His 108 shots on goal this season rank second on his club, while he is tied for the team lead in game-winning-goals with three. During the 2022-23 season, the right-shot forward registered a career-high 48 points, which was tied for third amongst all Hurricanes skaters.
"We're excited to add a proven player like Tyson to our lineup, who we feel can help us both this year and next," Giants General Manager Barclay Parneta said. "I'd like to thank Colton for all of his contributions to the Vancouver Giants. He was a great teammate and we wish him the best moving forward."
Zimmer, who is 6-foot-1 and 191 lbs., has collected 96 career points (43G-53A) in 183 Western Hockey League games, split between Brandon and Lethbridge. He was originally the sixth overall selection in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft.
The Giants would like to thank Colton for all his contributions to the club over the last few years and wish him and Kai all the best with the Hurricanes.
