Hurricanes Acquire Tschigerl from Hitmen

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Monday they have acquired 2003-born forward Sean Tschigerl from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for second and third-round draft picks in the 2025 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft.
Tschigerl, 20, was originally drafted by the Hitmen in the first round (4th overall) in the 2018 WHL Draft. The Whitecourt, AB, product has appeared in 246 career games registering 193 points (87g-106a) along with 128 penalty minutes with the Hitmen while adding 14 career shorthanded goals. He has also skated in eight post-season games during his WHL career collecting two points (1g-1a) and four penalty minutes.
"We are really happy to be able to add Sean to our group," said Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt. "He is a veteran two-way player who has a proven track-record of being an offensive producer in our league and will bring a scoring punch to our top-6 forward group and he is an elite penalty killer."
The 6'1, 191-pound forward was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the fifth-round (130th overall) in the 2021 National Hockey Draft. Tschigerl has recorded 43 points (19g-24a) and 38 penalty minutes in 36 games this season with Calgary.
He set a career-high 27 goals during the 2022-2023 season while marking a career-high in points with 58 during the 2021- 2022 season.
Tschigerl is expected to join the Hurricanes on Tuesday when they welcome the Spokane Chiefs.
The Hurricanes will welcome the Chiefs on Tuesday at 7:00pm at the ENMAX Centre before ending a four-game homestand on Friday against the Medicine Hat Tigers at 7:00pm.
