Silvertips Take Down Cougars 4-2 in Home Win

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips downed the Prince George Cougars by a 4-2 score Sunday night.

Ben Hemmerling opened the scoring just 1:23 into play, wiring a shot past Ty Young thanks to a slick feed from Andrew Petruk. He grabbed his second of the contest at 17:29, sending the Tips into the first intermission up 2-0.

Julius Miettinen tacked on his 17th of the season at 5:55 in the second period, as the Tips led 3-0 at the end of two.

Prince George climbed back into the contest, with goals from Zac Funk at the powerplay at 4:37 and Hudson Thornton at 13:57 in the third period. But an empty-netter by Austin Roest at 17:55 sealed the deal for a 4-2 victory.

Ethan Chadwick stopped 20 of 22 in the win, his ninth of the season.
