Georgia Force's Dialleo Burks named Defensive Player of the Week

ATLANTA, GA. â The Arena Football League announced today that Force Wide Receiver/ Linebacker Dialleo Burks was named the league's ADT Defensive Player of the Week. Burks' key interception and 38-yard touchdown return last Friday night helped lift the visiting Force over the Orlando Predators 52-44. This is the second weekly AFL award and third overall AFL honor for Burks during his career. In 2003, he was named co-Offensive Player of the Week following his Week 10 performance vs. San Jose. During the 2002 season, Burks earned AFL Rookie of the month for May.
Burks (6-3, 195, Eastern Kentucky) found the perfect time to haul in his first career AFL interception when early in the fourth quarter he leaped from his linebacker position to make a one-handed grab then instinctively darted down the sidelines 38 yards to the end zone. The interception switched the momentum back in favor of the Force and carried the team to its fifth straight regular season road victory dating back to last season. Burks finished the game with 3.5 tackles and two pass break-ups to go along with his interceptions while on offense, he hauled in four passes for 53 yards including a 27-yard touchdown pass that gave the Force a lead they would not relinquish.
The Georgia Force travel for their second straight road contest when they head to Indianapolis to face the Indiana Firebirds on Saturday, March 20th at 7:00 p.m. ET at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Force are 4-2 on the season and will return home to host the defending AFL World Champion Tampa Bay Storm on Saturday, March 27th at 7:00 p.m. A network-TV sport, the AFL celebrates its 2nd season on NBC in 2004.
