San Jose's Grieb, Las Vegas's Nash, Force's Burks and New York's Dupree earn week six honors

NEW YORK – San Jose SaberCats quarterback MARK GRIEB, Las Vegas Gladiators offensive specialist MARCUS NASH, Georgia Force wide receiver/linebacker DIALLEO BURKS and New York Dragons wide receiver/defensive back LINCOLN DUPREE have been named Baby Ruth Real Deal Co-Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player and U.S. Army Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 6 of the 2004 season.

Grieb (6-3, 208, UC Davis) earned Baby Ruth Real Deal Co-Offensive Player of the Week by leading the SaberCats (4-1) to a 55-35 victory over the Colorado Crush (4-2) on Sunday. The 2002 Offensive Player of the Year led San Jose with a perfect passer rating (158.3) on 18-of-22 (82 percent) passing for 292 yards and six touchdown passes and no interceptions. The seven-year veteran connected with four different receivers for touchdowns and currently leads the AFL in passer rating (138.8). This marks the second time that the former All-Arena QB has earned an AFL weekly honor.

Nash (6-4, 210, Tennessee) earned Baby Ruth Real Deal Co-Offensive Player of the Week by leading the Las Vegas Gladiators (3-3) to a 65-64 overtime victory over Western Division rival Arizona Rattlers (3-3) on Sunday. The second-year standout recorded an AFL season-high 16 receptions for 192 yards and four touchdowns. His 16 catches were the most in an AFL game since OS SHANNON CULVER had 16 for Dallas on July 13, 2002 against Chicago. This marks the first time that the former Volunteer has earned an AFL weekly award.

Burks (6-3, 195, Eastern Kentucky), who is in his third AFL season, led the Georgia Force (4-2) to a 52-44 victory over the Orlando Predators (2-3) on Sunday. Defensively, he had 3.5 total tackles, two passes defended and a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown. The momentum-changing interception came in the fourth quarter and helped the Force keep pace with Southern Division-leading New Orleans (5-1). This marks the first time that the former Colonel has earned an AFL weekly honor.

Dupree (5-11, 190, Eastern Michigan), who is in his rookie season, helped lead the New York Dragons (3-2) to a 40-35 victory over the defending champion Tampa Bay Storm (2-4) on Sunday. The 2002 arenafootball2 Rookie of the Year tallied two receptions for 28 yards and two touchdowns on offense, 1.5 total tackles and a fumble recovery on defense, and a 55-yard kickoff return and a 38-yard missed-field-goal return for two additional touchdowns. This marks the first time that the former Eagle has earned an AFL weekly honor.

Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Dallas ' Glenn Gauntt, Georgia's Markeith Cooper and Leon Murray, Indiana's Adrian McPherson, Las Vegas' Clint Dolezel, Los Angeles' Tony Graziani, New Orleans ' Aaron Bailey, New York's Lincoln Dupree and Philadelphia's Ricky Ross.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Dallas' Henry Taylor, Grand Rapids' Rod Manuel, Indiana's Bill Duff, Las Vegas' Chameion Sutton, New Orleans' Monty Montgomery, New York's Lincoln Dupree, Philadelphia's Joseph Todd and San Jose's Joe Jacobs.

U.S. Army Ironman of the Week candidates included: Dallas' Will Pettis, Georgia's Markeith Cooper, Indiana's Evan Hlavacek, Las Vegas' Maurice Bryant, Los Angeles' Kevin Ingram, New Orleans' Dan Curran, New York's Rodney Filer, Philadelphia's Sean Scott and San Jose's Rashied Davis.
