Oshawa Generals News Release

St. Catharines, Ontario - The Generals bounced back with a huge win in St. Catharines on Sunday night. Oshawa beat the IceDogs 6-4 before a crowd of 3,145 at the Gatorade Garden City Complex in what was definitely their biggest game of the year. After trailing 1-0 early, Oshawa tied it up in the first and then took a 3-1 lead into the third. The IceDogs battled back in the final frame taking a 4-3 lead before Oshawa stunned the home crowd by scoring 3 straight goals. Boone Jenner had a hat trick and a 5 point night while Scott Laughton scored a pair and added a couple of helpers. Lucas Lessio potted the winner at 16:29 of the third, and Daniel Altshuller made 46 saves on the road to victory. With the win, the Generals are back in the series, now down 2-1 in their Eastern Conference Quarter Final. Game 4 goes this Wednesday March 28th at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 PM.

Despite Oshawa's best efforts, the IceDogs still managed to open scoring at 5:33 thanks to Ryan Strome. The Generals battled back with Scott Laughton redirecting a shot from Christian Thomas on the power play at 11:32.

In the middle frame, the Generals took a 2-1 lead when Boone Jenner scored his first of the playoffs just after an IceDogs' penalty expired at 5:04. Laughton and Jenner continued to roll on the power play, hooking up again at 11:42.

In the third, the IceDogs refused to go down quietly, netting 3 straight goals that seemingly changed the complexion of the game. The goals came from Steven Shipley and Ryan Strome, who scored two. That's when the Generals took their determination to a new level; they scored 3 straight goals of their own and stole the game right back from Niagara. Scott Laughton tallied the equalizer at 16:21, knotting the game, 4-4. The Generals reclaimed the lead 9 seconds later when Lucas Lessio rifled the game winner by Visentin. The final seconds were nerve racking as Niagara worked a power play and pulled Visentin for 2 extra attackers. Jenner secured victory with a short handed empty netter at 19:28, making it a 6-4 final.

Scott Laughton and Boone Jenner were the first and third star selections.

Once again, a reminder that the Generals are back home this Wednesday March 28th for Game 4 of their series with Niagara. Start time is 7:05 PM at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, and the Generals need your support as they attempt to even up the series. Get your game face on, and we'll see you there!
