Flint Generals News Release


Player Notes: Gerard Miller leads the Generals with 23 points on 9 goals and 14 assists...Jason Selleke, Jeff Zehr and Mike Zbriger lead the team with 12 goals...Zbriger is tied for third in goals for rookies with 12 and tied for the league lead with seven power play goals for a rookie...Miller is fourth in defensemen scoring with his 23 points, second in goals with nine and tied for the lead with seven power play goals for a defenseman.

Team Notes: The Generals 36 games played this season is most of any UHL team...The Generals lead the league in power play goals for with 50 and power play goals against with 45...The Generals also lead the league with 12 shorthanded goals against...The Generals have the third best power play at 17.7% and the seventh best penalty kill at 82.8%...Flint has the second best average in shots on goal against per game at 30.11.

Tuesday, December 26 Flint 4 @ Bloomington 1

Jeff Zehr gave the Generals a 1-0 lead at 3:11 of the first period with a power play goal from Terry Marchant and Tyson Turgeon. Bloomington tied the game 1-1 at 17:20. Flint took the lead for good at 19:23 of the second period with an even strength goal from Marchant. Dave Frawley scored a shorthanded goal at 12:40 of the third period and Bobby Reynolds added an empty net goal 19:16 to close the scoring. Jason Muzzatti made 35 saves on 36 shots for the win.

Wednesday, December 27 Flint 1 @ Muskegon 3

The Generals scored the only goal of the first period to take a 1-0 lead over Muskegon. The goal was a power play goal by Jason Selleke at 14:40. Muskegon tied the game 1-1 with the only goal of the second period at 17:32. The Fury took the lead at 2:05 of the third period and ended the scoring at 18:43. Both third period goals were even strength. Jason Muzzatti made 24 saves on 27 shots in the loss.

Friday, December 29 Kalamazoo 3 @ Flint 2

The Wings took a 1-0 lead on the Generals with a power play goal at 9:46 of the first period. The Generals tied the game 1-1 with their own power play goal at 16:02. The goal was scored by Dion Hyman. Flint took a 2-1 lead at 8:11 of the second period on a Terry Marchant goal. Kalamazoo tied the game with an even strength goal at 14:51. The Wings took their second lead of the game with the only goal scored in the third period. The goal was scored at 4:18. Jason Muzzatti made 18 saves on 21 shots in the loss.

Saturday, December 30 Quad City 7 @ Flint 4

The Mallards took a 1-0 lead at 2:56 of the first period with their first shorthanded goal of the game. Jeff Zehr tied the game 1-1 with a power play goal at 4:00. Quad City took the lead back with a goal at 5:41. The Generals were able to tie the game with another power play goal at 13:25. Terry Marchant scored the goal for Flint. Quad City reclaimed the lead at 3-2 with a goal at 18:11. The Mallards extended their lead to 5-2 with two second period shorthanded goals. The goals were scored at 5:17 and 13:04. The Generals scored their third power play goal at 13:56 to get back to within two goal at 5-3. Quad City scored an even strength goal at 1:26 of the third period and a power play goal at 8:42 to take a 7-3 lead. Flint closed the scoring with a power play goal at 13:12 by Jordan Fox. Bryan Worosz made 26 saves on 33 shots in the loss.

Sunday, December 31 Flint 1 @ Kalamazoo 4

For the third consecutive game the Generals fell behind early when Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead at 6:09 of the first period. The Generals tied the game 1-1 on a Mike Zbriger power play goal at 16:27. The Wings scored the only goal of the second period to take a 2-1 lead. The Wings ended the scoring with two empty net goals in the third period. The goals were scored at 18:30 and 19:01. Jason Muzzatti made 27 saves on 29 shots in the loss.

PREVIEW OF UPCOMING GENERALS GAMES January 1 - January 7

Friday, January 5 Elmira @ Flint 7:30p.m.

The Jackals make their fourth trip to Flint of the season. The Generals are 1-3-1 against Elmira this season and 1-2-0 in Flint.

Saturday, January 6 Elmira @ Flint 7:30p.m.

The Generals host the Jackals for the second consecutive night. The teams will play each other six more times after this game, four times in Elmira and twice in Flint.

Sunday, January 7 Flint @ Fort Wayne 5:00p.m.

The Generals travel to Fort Wayne for the second time this season. The Generals are 0-1-1 against the Komets this season and 0-1-0 in Fort Wayne.

Generals Player of the Week:

The Generals Player of the Week is Terry Marchant. Marchant had five points in five games last week on three goals and two assists. He had one power play goal and had the game winning goal in the Generals only win of the week.

Generals Goaltender of the Week:

The Generals Goaltender of the Week is Jason Muzzatti. Muzzatti went 1-3-0 in four games played last week. In those games he had a goals against average of 2.26 and a save percentage of .920.

Record for week: 1-4-0, 2 points

Record for season: 13-21-2, 28 points - 5th in Eastern Conference
