Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBORO GENERALS
The Generals defeated the Trenton Titans 2-1 in a shootout on New Year's Eve at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Titans scored their one goal just ten minutes into the game off the stick of John Nail, but it would be the only one Daniel Berthiaume would allow all night. Chris Allen tied the game for the Generals on the power play in the second period, and both teams played sound defense the rest of the way, forcing the shootout. The shootout went eight rounds before Pete Gardiner sent the fans home happy with the game-deciding goal. Berthiaume made 34 saves for the win.
READING ROYALS
The Royals fell to the Peoria Rivermen 6-3 on the road last Saturday. Peoria's Brendan Brooks, who played for Reading last season, scored a pair of goals just 5:30 into the game for a 2-0 lead. Reading's Brandon Dietrich closed the gap to 2-1 midway through the first, but Peoria responded with another goal moments later. Duilio Grande kept the game close for the Royals scoring late in the first period to make the score 3-2, but the Rivermen tacked on a pair of second period goals to put the game out of reach. Simon Tremblay scored the final Royals goal in the third period.
