
Generals Blast Past Suns in Series Finale Sunday

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (MAY 25, 2014) - The Generals (20-29) pounded out 11 hits, including three home runs, as they defeated the Jacksonville Suns (24-25) 6-1 Sunday in Jacksonville. Ketel Marte (3x5, R, RBI) and Jack Marder (3x4, 2 R, RBI) collected three hits each as Jackson improved to 6-3 in series finale's this season. The three homers give Jackson now 26 on the season it was the first three-homer game of the season.
Marte and Leon Landry (1x5, R) led off the game with back-to-back singles for the Generals. They both came around to score on Dan Paolini's (1x5, 2 RBI) 15th double of the season and Jackson was up 2-0 after the first inning. The 15 doubles is T-1st in the Southern League
In the top of the fourth Patrick Kivlehan (1x3, R, RBI, BB) hit his first Double-A home run. The blast was an opposite field shot and gave the Generals a 3-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, with no one out in the fifth and Marder at first, Marte tripled to right-center for his third hit of the night. Marder scored and increased the Jackson lead to 4-0.
The Suns finally touched the scoreboard in the fifth when Alfredo Lopez doubled home Danny Black. The run made it 4-1 Generals after five innings.
In the sixth Mickey Wiswall (1x4, R, RBI) hit the Generals sixth long ball of the series to increase the lead once again to four runs at 5-1.
The Generals picked up one more run in the ninth as Marder homered for the second time on the season and the lead increased to 6-1.
Jackson received another great start from Cam Hobson (4-3, 3.40) who earned his fourth victory of the season and first in May. Hey gave up just one run in 5.2 innings on the mound, striking out three and waling two. Mayckol Guaipe (1-1, 2.22) and Stephen Kohlscheen (1-1, 1.44) pitched 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to preserve the win. James Nygren (0-2, 3.66) suffered the loss as he gave up three runs on five hits in four innings of work.
The Generals travel to Mobile, Ala. to begin a five game series with the BayBears on Monday. Tyler Olson (1-2, 5.57) is set to make his fifth start for Jackson as Mobile will send Braden Hagens (2-2, 2.67) to the mound.
