
Stars Claim Rubber Match with Montgomery

Montgomery, AL-The Huntsville Stars led wire-to-wire in their rubber match with the Montgomery Biscuits Sunday as the Stars beat the Biscuits 6-1 at Riverwalk Stadium to take three out of five from Montgomery.
With the series win, the Stars have now won nine out of their first ten series of the season.
D'Vontrey Richardson got the scoring started for the Stars in the first inning. He launched a one-out solo homerun to left field giving the Stars a 1-0 lead. It was Richardson's second homer of the season.
In the second inning, the Stars took advantage of a throwing error by second baseman Ryan Brett. With Greg Hopkins attempting to steal second base, Adam Weisenburger broke for home from third and Brett's throw to the plate was high as Weisenburger scored to give the Stars a 2-0 lead.
The Biscuits scored their only run of the game against the Stars starter Andy Moye in the fourth. With one out, Jeremy Moore went deep over the right field wall fall for his third homerun of the year.
Moye, who took a no decision in his first start since April 6th, worked four frames, giving up four hits and just one run. He struck out five and walked just one batter.
The Stars extended their lead in the fifth inning. Richardson and Jason Rogers each had rbi singles into left field giving the Stars a 4-1 cushion.
In the seventh, Rogers delivered again with the bases loaded. He singled back up the middle scoring Josh Prince and Richardson giving the Stars a 6-1 lead.
Tommy Toledo, who earned his first Double-A win was tremendous out of the Stars bullpen. Toledo, threw three shutout innings while striking out five batters to improve to 1-0.
Arcenio Leon and David Goforth pitched the final two innings as the Stars bullpen combined for five shutout innings.
Richardson finished 2-4 with 2 rbi and Rogers went 2-5 with 3 rbi.
The Stars are now 33-17 with the win, while the Biscuits drop to 26-23.
The Stars return to Huntsville to start a crucial series with the second place Tennessee Smokies Monday afternoon at Joe Davis Stadium. The Stars will have RHP Tyler Cravy(7-1, 1.82) on the hill. Tennessee will go with RHP Joel Pineiro(0-1, 7.00) Monday's game will be an internet only broadcast and can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 3:45 PM CDT on wtkiradio.com.
