Silverio's Homers Push Blue Wahoos Past Barons 7-6

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons dropped game four of theirfive game series against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, falling by a score of 7-6 in front of 5,038 fans at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

TheBarons jumped out to an early 6-1lead in the fourth inning, getting a trio of runs in the second and fourth. Rangel Ravelo started the scoring with a solo home run in the second, his fourth home run of the season. Sacrifice fly's by Michael Earley and Jamie Pedroza later in the inning pushed the lead to 3-0 in the second.

Starter Scott Snodgress cruised through the first 4.0 inning but ran into trouble in the fifth, allowing a pair of home runs including a solo home run by Juan Silverio to cut the lead to 6-4.

Pensacola tied the game at 6-6 in the sixth on a bases loaded walk to Juan Duran and a bases loaded catchers interference by Kevan Smith, his second in as many nights. Snodgress took a no-decision allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits over 4.2 IP.

The score remained tied until the eighth when Silverio struck again, swatting ago-ahead solo home run against reliever Parker Frazier (2-3, 3.20) to give the Blue Wahoos a 7-6 lead.

The Barons were unable to mount a rally in the ninth, falling to 18-30 on the year while Pensacola improved to 22-27. The Barons will look to salvage the series finale tomorrow afternoon as RHP Mike Recchia (1-0, 1.80) takes the hill against RHP Micahel Lorenzen (2-2, 2.26). First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM CDT on Sunday.
