Greensboro Generals News Release

GREENSBORO, NC - Entering the game in third place, the Greensboro Generals got a crucial win over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies with a 3-2 victory at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Generals Geno Parrish knotched the game-winning goal with four seconds remaining in the third period, giving Greensboro (38-21-9) its first win over Atlantic City all season.

The Boardwalk Bullies (39-18-12) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a Scott Matzka goal just 54 seconds into the game. Sam Ftorek, tied the franchise record of 33 goals in a season set by Sal Manganaro, tied the game at 1-1 at the 13:58 mark of the first. Atlantic City would score the only goal of the second when Jim Henkel scored at the 4:59 mark, putting the Generals down 2-1 heading into the third period.

Greensboro tied the game on a Bryan Richardson goal at the one minute mark of the third, setting up a titanic defensive battle for the remainder of the third period. After never leading throughout the game, Greensboro found itself at the Boardwalk Bullies red line with just under 45 seconds remaining. It was at that point that Mike Bayrack knocked a loose puck in the direction of Geno Parrish to give the Generals a dramatic 3-2 victory over Atlantic City.

The Generals return home on Wednesday to face the Roanoke Express on Wacky Wednesday. The game was originally rescheduled from February 16th, and fans will have the opportunity to purchase $5 goal view tickets at the gate. Fans can listen to the game on WPET 950AM and www.greensborogenerals.com.
